What is a Second Opinion?

Advice on what a second opinion involvesA second opinion is every patient’s right

and involves a review of your diagnosis and treatment options.

For more information, please read my article on second opinions.

My cancer second opinion consultation process is comprehensive and involves three steps.

Step 1. Pre-consultation.

Before we meet, I undertake a full review of your reports and results from various providers.  This includes discussing your case with pathologists or radiologists and other specialists where required. If you do not have all of your reports/results, time will be taken to obtain these. Your authorisation may be required.

Step 2.  Consultation.

The consultation can occur in my rooms or by Skype and usually takes around 1 to 1.5hrs. This ensures we have sufficient time to discuss all of your concerns. It’s best to make a list of questions and send them to me beforehand.

Step 3.  Preparation of a comprehensive report

A comprehensive report is sent to you and, if you wish, to your referring doctor.

If you have any queries about the process, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
